feel free to contact and send some feedback - or make an
appointment to visit my studio;
here, we can come into touch personally, talk about all the
important things in live and,
besides, analyse some recent originals - or just simply take a
view.
matter of fact, one can put just photographs across, online...
as i am austrian, the website's leading language is german
but, whenever important, main infos are added in english as
well.

it is just an individual arrangement of
different forms and colors.
those forms have spatial depth and, sometimes, a hint of
horizon.
such kind of landscape makes interpretation for viewers more
accessible, perhaps...
do not take the assigned titles for subject,
as they were added finally, just for differentiation.
thus, "what" is not important and "how" gets into main focus:
expression, reduction, tension,
balance or, prior to all, those points where balances and
perspectives intentionally are falling.
my figural works and portraits naturally
refer to some basic reality, more or less.
with portraits, especially, comes a certain inherent expectation
of too much realism.
intentionally, my portraits are less detailed, which catches a
character much more concisely.
i n f o 3 : sculptures
i prefer layouting of sculptures in virtual
3D space (blender / linux ubuntu) and
visualizing them afterwards in short animations for some
close-to-reality touch.
but also real sculptures can be the result - by means of a 3D
printer;
colour, material and size are widely variable in that case.
for me, most of the time those short videoclips remain the final
step.
advantage: storage is quite easy - and no need for an expensive
sculpting studio.
disadvantage: due to virtuality there is no haptic experience
at all...
i n f o 4 : architecture = sculpture
in my opinion, architecture basically is a
huge sculpture.
thus interesting to me, even without any chance for
realization.
presented are some of my 3D layouts for department stores.
libraries,
country residences, churches, office towers - all of them still
"unbuilt".
a short 3D video is visualization enough to me.
i n f o 5 : g r a p h i c s
graphics are mainly important to me for
gathering and specifying ideas.
benefit: drawing just a single line forces my concentration on
essential parts.
sometimes, such sketches even end up as the final version.
illustrations and applied graphics are part
of my work, too;
practicing such visible realism always is a brush up to my
skills.
here i prefer vector graphics (file format: ".svg" = scalable
vector graphics).
because this format provides accurate sharpness with any zooming
you like,
whereas bitmap graphics (.jpg/.png/.gif) loose sharpness with
every zooming step.
i n f o 6 : a r t c l i p s
short animations of vitual 3D objects from
the domains sculptures and architecture.
videos always open in a new additional window;
thus several artclips can be activated in parallel and compared.
the related browser tab switches back or closes the active
window.

J O H A N N E S M I C H A E L K O L L E R - j m k
born february 21st 1946
means, a child of hope, conceived just after end of world war
2.
means, a raising with a brilliant mix of nearly nothing up to
all you can eat; character shaping.
means, a living during the best ages ever (reconstruction,
economic miracle, digital revolution...).
a lot of education, experience and
performance; some parts even were interesting to me.
in parallel, all the time i had my painting and sculpting,
estimating this for my purpose in life.
hence, art academy. before that, i attended a summer academy
and, fortunately, got some
insider information about studying at an art academy and future
chances to make a living of art.
both disillusioning, but quite in time.
so i decided to study economy and to prefer a sound base for
living, marriage, family.
graduation done, 25 successful years of management followed.
then, at the age of just 48, a dropout chance.
since then, i am a freelance artist.
means, really free: everything created
presents 100% my personal form and content.
today, far beyond dropout and retirement, i am still creative,
mainly digital and 3D.
and still this is a great experience, nothing else that
fulfilling...
